Report by Heather Willitts:
On Friday, May 2, 2008, the JUMPS team
investigated the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge located on East Broadway in Salem City.
This is the second investigation on the two story brick structure. During the
first investigation, the only evidence the team collected was three EVP’s. The
second investigation had a much different feel. The team, made up of the two lead investigators Rick and Doug and investigator-in-training Katelyn, went into
the second investigation not sure what to expect since during the first
investigation they had a few personal experiences.
When the team first
arrived they did a base sweep of the building with the EMF reader and
temperature gauge. During the beginning of the investigation, there did not seem
to be any more activity than the prior investigation. While the lead investigators
were in the upstairs office, they experienced fluctuations in EMF levels that
they could not pinpoint to any specific source. After this occurred, the
building seemed to return to its prior calm. It wasn’t until later in the investigation,
around midnight, that the team began to experience things that they could not
explain. While Rick and Katelyn were alone in the banquet hall that was set up
from the prior evenings bingo night with tables and aluminum folding chairs
they began to hear several different noises. Like the first investigation, the aluminum chairs were making
sounds as if there was someone sitting in the chairs and then standing up
leaving the chair to resettle itself. There were also tapping noises that the
team could not locate the origin of. On the digital voice recorder that was
left in the banquet hall for the entire investigation, the team picked up
multiple taps, bangs, and voices that occurred when the investigators were not
present. When Doug joined Rick and Katelyn in the banquet hall, the noises
continued. At one point, it sounded as if someone had slide the plastic
trash can across the floor. When the investigators went to investigate,
a high EMF spike was present that quickly dissipated after attempting to debunk the sound,
which the team was not able to do. The investigators spread themselves out in
the hall to try and locate the source of the noises. At this point, all three
investigators heard what sounded like a female voice sighing. They were unable
to locate the source of this noise but it was caught on the digital voice
recorder. After the team finished their investigation of the banquet hall, they
did a second sweep through the other areas of the building with no personal experiences.
The buildings history is unsure. Research was done and it was discovered that it was previously owned by a
gentleman that owned a funeral home and was a coroner and licensed embalmer.
But we are unsure what the property was used for. We would like to encourage
anyone who has any information on prior uses of this building to please feel
free to email us.
After
reviewing all of the evidence collected we were surprised at the amount of
activity that we were able to capture. Though the first investigation did not
seem as if there was much to find, the second investigation really surprised us.
But anyone who knows the paranormal knows that no two investigations, whether at
the same location or different locations, are ever the same. After concluding
our second investigation of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the JUMPS Team
has determined that this location is haunted.
